Protect your Warehouse Racking

If you own, operate or are a staff member at any kind of storage facility and have been on the job for any length of time you will acknowledge that short-cuts are taken from time to time. These shortcuts can have severe consequences for workers and employers.

Stay within the engineered tolerances of the shelving or racking system. If your inventory changes signficantly in terms of dimensions or weight make sure to re-visit your rack design. It can be helpful (mandatory in many jurisdiction) to prominently display rated load capacities on your rack system.

Establishing a rack system to improve the efficient use of your storage space must be viewed as in initial installation effort along WITH an ongoing plan to protect the system from damage and budget for repairs.  Education of warehouse staff and management is essential. Proper forklift operation, damage reporting, racking inspection guidelines and maintenance schedules must all be part of even the smallest facility.

A simple plan can prevent injuries or worse.
